Conference school::sports_memorabilia

    Anyone know what a good price for a box of these would be?  I can get
    one for $43.50.  I know Fleer Ultra Baseball seems to be leveling off
    around $42-$45.  Does this seem like a good price?  Anyone seen a much
    better pre-order price?
    

    Is this the first year for Fleer Ultra Football?  Is it one series or
    two?

    	Denny, this will be the 2nd year for Fleer Ultra Football.  Last
    year it was 1 series with a Fleer Ultra Update later in the year.

    If anyone wants a box or 2. I can prebuy it for $39 a box (dealer
    cost is $34). The dealer will sell me up to 10 boxes. I need the money
    by Weds. Please let me know if you want one because I have to pay

    That's a good price Steve, for $2/box you get to know you're
    getting the product and don't have to chase it at the wharehouse.
    I think that's worth $2 (not $6.50, but $2, yeah).  Sign me up
    for 2 boxes and send some mail on how to get you money, I can DCU
    xfr if that works for you.

    I don't know when they will be in but either John or I will get a call
    as soon as they are in.

    I saw them for the first time last night and I wasn't to happy with
    what I saw. I saw 2 packs that were open and it seems that there was 
    alot of cards that were either unexposed or they have a problem with
    the color,(tint pale Greenish yellow),did anyone else see this,or was
    it just a bad pack ?

    Yes John, some of the photos/colors are lousy.  Seems like Fleer
    didn't put much effort into the football.  The fact that alot
    of the backgrounds are green grass also doesn't look to good
    against the green bottom color they chose.  Seems like some photos
    are crisp and sharp with good color then a bunch are just dark
    and dull.  Go figure.

    I did manage to get the cards at lunch. John StOnge now has
    everyones boxes. For a Rich Gedman rookie card he'll deliver!

    I opened a box this evening - geez I must've  picked  someone  else's
    box because I only got 1 %$#^&% insert card - #10 of the Reggie White
    Insert set. I haven't finished sorting,  but you figure with only 432
    cards per box,  you won't  make  a 450 card set. I didn't notice many
    doubles though.
    
    I'll try to make it to Westford and Littleton tomorrow after work for
    some of the dropoffs.

    one of my boxes at lunch time,(couldn't wait) and I guess I got
    pretty lucky (which is unusual) and got three Reggie White cards
    and 5 award winners,they are,

    Hey Saint I give you 8 boxes and you pull the dud. With your
    experiance I thought you'd get the loaded box. I always thought you
    experianced collectors could smell the right box or pack to open.
    
    The dealer I got them from opened two boxes he got 0 award winners!
    He did get 4 Chris Millers and 5 Reggie Whites though.

    Roy got 5 Chris Miller's in his box. It's not like I expected to get
    a full set of Award Winners.  I was hoping to get five or six of the
    insert cards. Win some - lose some.  I should stick to baseball like
    I've been saying the last two years.

    I also got 5 inserts, 4 award winners and 1 Chris Miller (who?). So
    far all the award winners and smith/miller inserts I've seen have
    decent photos, sharp with good color distinction.  Can't say the same
    however for 80% of the regular cards, sigh.
    
    Why Chris Miller?  And to boot he's now out for the season, good

    For those of you who have bad eyes,your going to have a hard time
    making out some of the numbers of the cards,I never saw anything like
    it.The teams that have blue in their uniforms are the ones that are
    hard to identify.

    Did you guys also notice the cut of the cards,for the price of these
    cards Fleer better start getting on their QC people,I'm thinking about
    sending 50 % of them back like I did with 1992 Fleer Baseball,it
    just takes too long to get the cards back but they do replace them.

    Oh yeah, and I got a full set out of my box... anyone interested in
    Miller cards?  I'd trade them for White or award winners...
