341.0. "Upper Deck Comic Ball 2" by STUDIO::GUTIERREZ (Who's on 1st.. What's on 2nd..) Tue Nov 05 1991 13:30

        Hhhhmmmm.... What's up Doc ?.

It's Looney Tunes time!!. Looney Tunes 2, that is.

In case you haven't noticed, the new and improved Looney Tunes 2
trading cards are out, and they are, in my opinion, much, much
better looking than the ones from series 1.

These new series 2 cards are really nice, they have sharp, bright
colors, and the Looney Tunes characters intermingle with Regie
Jackson and Nolan Ryan in action pictures.

The set contains 198 cards, and if you mount them properly in the
9 pocket plastic pages, when you flip the page over, each group
of 9 cards make up a full page picture on the back. There are
many action pictures involving the game of baseball, including
	pitching, batting, running, etc.

There are 9 brand new Holograms, and they are very well done.
This time, the Looney Tunes characters as well as Regie Jackson
and Nolan Ryan appear together in the Holograms, . If you didn't
care for the Looney Tunes series I, you will like these new series 2
cards. If you liked series I, then you're going to love these.

I bought a box for $25 at a card show, and I am only 10 cards short
of a complete set, and have many duplicates to trade. Also found
6 Holograms, 4 different ones, and 2 duplicates. So... if any one
out there has them, and is trying to complete a set, send me mail,
and we may be able to help each other.

Th... Tha... That... That's all folks....

other tidbits about Comic Ball series 2...culled from email by Keane
Arase on the usenet.

----

There are 198 cards in this series of Comic Ball, as opposed to 297
cards in series I. These cards are *not* by Chuck Jones as the
original offering was, but are by a group called "The Dover Boys(tm) Studio".

Rather than have a card number on both sides as in CB I, CB II has only
one number per card. The comic storyboard is only on one side, rather
than both sides for CB I. The reverse side of the cards have trivia
questions.

Also different are the number of cards per comic. Instead of having
as many cards as necessary to complete the story, each comic has a
rigid 18 frames. They are broken down as follows:

Cards 1- 18: Favorite Interplanetary Pastime.
Cards 19- 36: Road Games.
Cards 37- 54: Couch Potato Baseball.
Cards 55- 72: Monster Flyball.
Cards 73- 90: Batting Troubles.
Cards 91- 98: Seventh Inning Stretch Singles.
Card 99: Set 1 Checklist.
Cards 100-117: Burger Ball.
Cards 118-135: Chicken Wing Ding.
Cards 136-153: Patch of Greens.
Cards 154-171: Baseball Appreciation.
Cards 172-189: Get Your Souvenirs.
Cards 190-197: Seventh Inning Stretch Singles.
Card 198: Set 2 Checklist.

    Holograms

Does anyone have a listing of the holograms? I know there are nine
holograms, but who's on the holograms? So far, I know of the following:

Nolan Ryan with: Bugs Bunny, The Orange Furry Monster, Tweety, and
    		     Sylvester
Reggie Jackson with: Marvin the Martian, Tazmanian Devil, and Daffy

I have dups of Ryan with Bugs Bunny, Ryan with The Orange Furry
Monster, Reggie with Marvin the Martian, and Reggie with Tazmanian
    Devil.

Would anyone like to trade? My dups for your dups? Let me know via
    E-mail.

    Thanks for the listing Nance...8^)

Has anyone else noticed the scarcity of the Reg/Nolan with Coyote/Road
Runner and Reg with Speedy? Of all the packs that I've opened, I seem
to be encountering the Reg with Marvin the Martian/Two Green Goony
    Birds.

    Just curious,

Jeff,I bought 2 packs last night for my son & daughter and I guess
she was pretty lucky, she not only got the card, she also got the
Hologram in the same pack, the Hologram is the best I've seen, the
contrast is so perfect that you can actualy see all the colors in
    it.
