Hi, In the Canadian Armed Forces (Army) the standard head dress is the beret in dress and combat uniform. The United Kingdom has a similiar form dress for its soldiers. I find that the beret is a practical form head dress for most occasion, the only except being rainfall. I wonder would USMC, U.S. Army, or U.S. Airforce would consider a change to a the beret. Maybe a sand-brown for the USMC, a dark-green for the U.S. Army, and a blue for U.S Airforce (the USAF military police wear beret, right???). What do you think??? Comments.... Regards, Richard

ONLY COMBAT ARMS SUCH AS INFANTRY,AIRBORNE,SPECIAL FORCES,RANGER TYPE UNITS HAVE THEM. IT SETS THEM APART FROM REGULAR UNITS.IN THE ARMY A BERET HAS TO BE EARNED. IT GIVES THE SOLDIER SOMTHING TO STRIVE FOR, A GOAL. I WAS VERY PROUD THE DAY I EARNED MY MAROON BERET AFTER AIRBORNE SCHOOL. I HAD WORN ONE FOR THE TWO YEARS IN A LRRP UNIT IN THE 101ST. AIRBORNE DIV. REGULAR INFANTRY UNITS DON'T WEAR A BERET, BUT THE ARMY DID TOY WITH THE IDEA OF AUTHORIZING A LIGHT BLUE(INFANTRY BLUE) BERET.NOTHING EVER CAME OF IT.TO BAD. AIRBORNE!!!!! |
