67.1You Must have a leather name tag alsoROYALT::BARBERSkyking Tactical ServicesTue Feb 06 1990 02:229
One minor nit there ....You must have the leather name tag on
it to be legal !!! This was originally only authorized for ware
by Surface Warfare designated Chiefs and Officers. It has now
been extended to all ranks and all communities of the Navy.
Aside from your name only the SW emblem may be on the name tag.
(If you rate it) No Sub Service, or AC wings or any other designator
    may be on it.

Bob, NAVOP 007/90 has been interpreted as "including" insignia such as
dolphins as they are a "warfare" type of insignia. We have concluded that
you can't use such emblems as Chief's anchors, Command Chief's Badges,
or Officer's crest, etc..

It will be interesting to see what the name tags actually say, for names -
as some are using nicknames, etc.

An additional note, a friend just ordered a sweater from Norfolk, and it
had one epaulet shorter than the other, too short for the soft shoulderr
board. It also had one sleeve longer than the other. I hope this is a
singular occurence...

The poop sheet that was handed down to us stated the
outline as I put it. This is probably another one of those
interpreted by command discretion deals..OH well there a
         great sweater but darn expensive..
