62.0. "Buying equipment." by PEKING::NASHD (Whatever happened to Capt. Beaky?) Thu Jan 04 1990 11:35

This problem cannot be restricted to me. When I want to buy any
equipment I save my money and just as I get close to having enough
something happens and I have to spend it; my wife cannot understand
why I want to "waste" my money buying equipment anyway, when I have
been issued with RAF recommended equipment, "Surely they know best"
    she says.
Yet, she'll spend money on clothes, gifts or domestic items and
    not think about it.
I'm not looking for any magical solutions, I just wondered if anyone
    else has the same problem.

While not exactly related, my wife cannot understand why I have
to keep bringing home all those ugly green or black military surplus
radios that I do....when I comment that it's my hobby and that she
enjoys buying pewter and the like, her comment is, "But it's for
    the house!"

    Oh well.....

Hey Chief....I got this radio from my father in law, who picked it up
    from who knows where...

He said it came out of a tank...It definetly looks WWII vintage...

How'd ya like ta take a look at it and tell me if its fixable, usable,
etc...He claimed to have picked up some signals years ago.

I'll try to get some numbers off of it...

You do know something about radios don't ya??

    		Happy New Year Chief...

But Chief, your "other house" is a Gooney Bird! Sounds the same to me.

Sure, Steve, I'd be glad to look at it. If it's a receiver and it's
the one I think it is, I may already have the matching transmitter.

I guess it's safe to say I know enough about radios to be dangerous!
