| Yes, in Boston for a store anywhere in Massachusetts call the MSPCA
Legal Department at 617/522-7400. You can also report them to the
licensing agency for the State of Massachusetts, Department of Food
and Agriculture...call 617/727-3000 (their main number), dial
extension 156--or wait for an operator to come on if that line doesn't
answer or is busy--and ask for anyone in the Animal Health department.
If the store is not in Massachusetts, call the Department of Agriculture
for the state where the store is located and ask for the department,
_whatever they call it_ there, that licenses pet stores. (Note: Some
states do not have licensing requirements for individuals or retail
establishments that buy, sell, and trade live animals, so the SPCA in
that state is an alternative for reporting your concerns. Also,
sometimes there is a local humane society or animal rescue league that
that can take action based on your call.
Good for you. If more people at least called, more stores would be
educated about proper care if they are ignorant or brought to task if
poor animal care is due to disregard and uncaring.
Feel free to send me mail or call for more information.

| Call Citizen Information Hotline in Boston and ask them.
They will give you the best phone number to call, assuming you are from
Massachusetts. The number is 800-392-6090. If they don't know,
they'll give you a phone number of someone who will know.
By the way, this number is good for all sorts of questions a person
might have trying to find an agency or whatever. This 800 number only
works if you are calling from inside of Massachusetts.
