274.0. "Astrologer's Fund" by AKOCOA::GLANTZ () Wed Sep 09 1992 01:46
The "New York Times" Business section, 9/6/92 [author: Henry Weingarten]:
Astrologically we have recently left the Saturn-Neptune conjunction period,
which corresponded economically to the end of the roaring 1980's and
politically to the fall of the Berlin wall and the collapse of Communism. We
are now in the Uranus-Neptune conjunction period, which is negatively
expressed by chaos and confusion and positively by a new vision of the future.
That conjunction is exemplified by the fragmentation of Eastern Europe.
The present conjunction period offers parallels to another period of upheaval
-- the 1930's. Just consider the rise of right-wing, fascist parties in
Europe (witness the riots in Germany over the last few weeks).
The higher purpose of the 1993-94 Uranus-Neptune period is revision. The new
world order should be a new marriage of individualism (Uranus) with the
collective consciousness (Neptune). Since this cosmic mandate is most
unlikely to manifest itself without pain, we will probably experience the
crisis of a worldwide depression in order to reverse our current backward-
directed thinking. My forecast for the 90's also indicates an abundance of
natural disasters of which Hurricane Andrew was but a small foretaste.
Planetary movements for the economy and for politics can be thought of as
timers. The red flag period begins Feb. 10, 1993, and lasts until Dec. 5,
1994. I put the chances of a 30's-style Depression occurring next year at 50
percent; the chances of it occurring before the end of 1994 are better than 75
percent.
While I believe that President Bush will win re-election easily -- his chart
is gaining in strength -- a victory by Gov. Bill Clinton would do little to
stop the depression. Neither candidate offers real solutions. Though Ross
Perot faded out of the race in the summer -- something I forecast -- he will
re-emerge in the fall as a factor in the race.
After the election foreign capital will increasingly refuse to prop up the
United States. Japanese and European investors and oil sheiks -- having
already repaid their debt to President Bush for Operation Desert Storm -- will
have little reason to ignore our fiscal mismanagement.
My recommendations -- regardless of who wins the Presidential election -- are
very bullish on the Japanese stock market in the near term before the onset of
the depression. Last month I began recommending purchasing Japanese
securities. I expect the Nikkei 225 stock index to close out 1992 at a year-
end high of more than 22,000 (it's about 18,000 now).
In 1993, I will be switching the focus of our fund to the safety of the
European markets; I am also recommending some hedging in gold instruments and
expect to short the American markets and the dollar. In fact, the dollar must
retreat further next year and may even collapse.
Clearly there are alternative scenarios for the future. But they require real
political will and global vision. In order to survive and prosper, I do not
advise consumers to re-enslave themselves to the idols of consumerism. Rather,
on the material plane, I advocate getting out of debt, stayting out of debt
and increasing saving.
We are on the threshhold of a new world and a new reality. We are living in a
time of great changes, and of great spiritual crises and opportunities. Though
we will experience a depression, alongside it will be the potential to
accumulate great spiritual wealth. Meditation and prayer will be most
profitable at this time.
