46) will be held from Sept 1 to Sept 5, 1988 in New Orleans, La.
The guests are as follows:
Pro Guest of Honor: Donald A. Wollheim

For those of you that have never attended a southern convention,
be prepared for a treat. We don't do things quite the same way
here.

-< How 'bout a party at NolaCon? >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm going, with my husband and another couple, non-Deccies
all. Although I'm working on my husband. :)
I get the feeling that the convention would be a great place
to meet some fellow Deccies. Would anyone out there be
willing to organize a small Digital party, perhaps during an
afternoon? I'm staying in a small-parlor suite in the
Sheraton, and I'm willing to donate space if someone else
wants to donate organization.

625.6 | Can't make it, but..... | RAIN::WELCH | Suk 'em! | Fri Jul 08 1988 12:59 | 8 |
| Sorry I can't make it to N.O., but do you know of any conventions
in the Boston area which will be happening any time in the forseeable
future? I always hear about them after they happen, and have never
been able to attend. I'll be at M.I.T. in the fall, so I'll be
around where I hope there will be some SF action.
So if anybody knows of any SF or Fantasy gatherings which will
be taking place, please MAIL me at ENOVAX::WELCH. Thanks.

625.7 | The party animals came from the voodvork out...? | ROCHE::HUXTABLE | Dancing Light | Mon Aug 29 1988 16:46 | 15 |
| A couple of months ago, I asked (re .4) if anyone would be
interested in a Noters party at Nolacon. I got a few
responses by mail, and decided I would ask again when the
time got closer...
So are you interested? I've got a (non-smoking) suite in the
Sheraton. Never having been to a WorldCon before, I have no
idea whether and when there'll be time to squeeze in another
party. :) :) But if you're interested, we'll make it
happen!
Either respond here or send me mail by Wednesday. Or get in
touch with me at Nolacon and we'll throw something together.

625.8 | Two possible, maybe 4 | SNDCSL::SMITH | CP/M Lives! | Mon Aug 29 1988 17:55 | 10 |
| I'll be at Nolacon with my SO, but I'm gonna be in another hotel (the
Monte Leone). A Digit party sounds like a good idea, but I dunno our
schedule yet. She does like the idea, though, (she called in the
middle of my message....).
On a related note, does anyone have more info on the 'writers tracks'
at the con? I could probably convince my sister to come over from
Houston if I had more details....

625.9 | Party's On! Check there for exact date/time... | CLAY::HUXTABLE | Dancing Light | Wed Aug 31 1988 15:45 | 27 |
| I think there's enough interest to have a party. At this
point I'm tentatively planning for Friday evening, about
7-10'ish. That's kindof early, but I'm figuring there might
be other parties we'd like to get to also--maybe we'll go as
a group and terrorize 'em! The date and time will get firmer
after I get there and talk to people--I'm hoping to get to
the Noreascon party Thursday night since there'll probably be
plenty of other DECcies there. I don't know how we'll
recognize each other: I may have my Digital badge partly
visible, perhaps stuck in a pocket, and you might do the
same. (Actually, if we're wearing our con badges, there's
some of your names I'll recognize.)
I'll post information on bulletin boards, especially in the
Sheraton (where I'm staying) and probably the Marriott as
well. I think there's a newsletter that will have lists of
parties; if so, I'll try and get some information in there.
I don't know my room number, but if you can't find any
information once you get down there and you're interested,
feel free to give me a call at the Sheraton. Our room *is*
registered under Huxtable, and the desk should be able to
transfer your call or leave a message.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

625.10 | I liked it! | CLAY::HUXTABLE | Dancing Light | Thu Sep 08 1988 14:05 | 37 |
| Well, I thoroughly enjoyed my first WorldCon, in spite of
(because of?) having made it to very few parties, the
supposed highlight of any con. I enjoyed watching the
interesting-looking people, whether in costume or not, and
really liked the art show. I also distinctly remember at
least three meals eaten in the French Quarter after which the
thought of ever eating again seemed like sacrilege!
The Digits party came off quite well; I enjoyed meeting folks
I've conversed with electronically. For the curious, those
of us with failing memories, and any hapless souls who want
to try to put together a party in the future, I've listed the
DECcies and friends who came, including the mailstop
(suggested by Spencer) to get an idea where people came from.

My thanks to all of you who came and who told others about
it. (At least two people who came were DECcies who heard
about the party at the con, not beforehand in Notes.) To
those of you who couldn't make it, we'll just have to try
again some other year!

Let's make this a tradition. Next year, the Worldcon is in
Boston; there should be lots and lots of DECcies there.

relax, too!)
