Depending on how much you need to pick up, a trip to State Line
Tack Shop in Plaistow N.H. may be worth your while. They have some
of the best prices around.
There is a tack shop in New Ipswich N.H. called Pinehill. I
haven't been there in years but they may be closer. Jane B Shaw
on Thayer Road. (603) 878-1249.

| Tack shops are good for tack - bridles, saddles, etc. But if you're looking
for buckets, scoops, pitchfork, hay racks, shovels - all things for the
stable - and odds and ends like brushes and curries, good places to check
are the Purina distributors in the various local areas (one in the center
of Hollis, NH) and the Agway farmers cooperative (I think there is one
in Marlboro, NH and one in Keene - I know there's a huge one in Burlington
VT if you get over that way). There are probably others in the area
too.
Fitchburg, MA has the UCF - United Cooperative Farmers - that has a lot
of this stuff, too.
Good luck with the ponies!

| THANKS JULIE. I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT I NEED JUST YET, SO I'M
GOING TO DO SOME SHOPPING AROUND. I'LL TRY TO FIND THAT PURINA
PLACE IN HOLLIS, TO CHECK IT OUT. BY THE WAY, HOW MUCH SHOULD I
EXPECT TO PAY FOR A 50 LB. BAG OF OATS? I'D LIKE TO STOCK UP BEFORE
THE WINTER. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
THANKS AGAIN,

| Does anyone know anything about a tack shop called Kent Saddlery

I'd like to find out more about them...
Thanks in advance for any information!

Linda,
Do they sell the Clinton-Northrop saddles?
Kent saddlery rings a bell for some reason... If they're the ones
that deal with Clinton-Northrop, I had good luck with 'em.
Wish I could remember why I know of 'em.

301.12 | Kent leather. | FORTY2::GUNN | | Tue Jan 03 1989 13:36 | 7 |
| Kent Saddlery (or Leather Goods) is the name of an English manufacturer
and retailer of saddles and tack. Whether they are any good or not, I
do not know, nor do I know whether they have any connection with this
outlet in MA. Kent Leather has a tack shop on the top floor of
Lillywhites Sporting Goods store in Piccadilly Circus in London. I went
in there last week for their "sale". Even their "sale" prices were high
so I didn't by anything.

301.13 | Now I know why I know Kent Saddlery! | EQUINE::DANI | | Tue Jan 03 1989 17:00 | 13 |

Bingo! That's why I know Kent saddlery. I was in London about 4 years
ago when the exchange rates were very much in our favor. I spent about
$400 at Kent saddlery and did much better than I would have here in the
states.
I happened that I was there for only a day. The original intend was to
spend the day sight seeing. The weather was horrid so I ended up
shopping instead. The stuff I purchased is all of excellent quality.
I did get a bunch of stuff and may be able to answer some questions.

| Horsemen's Tack Shop is on Rte. 28 in Salem, NH. The service is
excellent, the prices are good, and they can fix anything!
They don't have a lot of room so they don't have a very big selection
but they can get whatever you want. They do all kinds of leather
repair, blanket repairs, put straps on blankets, dye reins for parades,
they are very helpful.

I seem to remember seeing an add for a tack shop in Billerica

its name and how to get there? Will you let me know?
Every since Classic Saddlery closed I've been ordering by mail
but I need to do some browsing.
Thanks Nancy

301.15 | Equestrian Shop, Andover MA | MEIS::SCRAGGS | | Mon Oct 09 1989 19:19 | 11 |
| Hi Nancy, Not sure about Billerica but the Equestrian Shop of N.
Andover is a nice place to browse. The prices are usually competitive
for the most part. They do have alot to look at. If your coming from
495 north take route 114 Middleton exit (42 maybe?? not positive)
right off ramp onto 114, just follow this for about 5-6 miles or so.
You'll pass the old Boston Alpine Ski area on your right, the tack
shop is about 1/4 mi past, just after the North Andover riding
academy entrance on your left.

| Nancy...
If you are going as far or to North Andover to the Equestrian Shop
why not go about another 20 minutes ( maybe) and go to State Line
Tack shop in Plaistow, N.H. It is on rt 121 ....you would go from
N.Andover take 495 north to the second exit for route 125...north/
Plaistow,N.H.....go to the third set of light and go STRAIGHT not
right on rt. 125 and State Line will be down the road 1/2 mile or
so on your left...a BIG red barn. It's fun there is three floors
of stuff. In riding appreal they cater to the English Style.
Have fun...

301.18 | PEGASUS FARM TACK SHOP - WESTFORD MA. | CSMET2::GREENWOOD | | Thu Mar 15 1990 16:42 | 19 |
| Was over at PEGASUS FARM the other day and found they are starting
up a small tack shop in a fairly large room off of their entry/
waiting room.
They have an assortment of ointments, soaps, bandages, grooming
tools, lead ropes, etc, etc. They also have used and new tack
(including saddles). They do not have clothing (huge inventory
required) but plan on carrying items that when you want um - you
want um. They can order almost everthing and get it in a few days.
Don't know anything about prices or hours but it might be handy
to get some of those items locally and save a 2 hour drive to one
of the larger shops.
They are located off of Rt 119, about 2 miles west of Acton, almost
directly opposite Nashoba Ski Area, just into Westford from Littleton.

301.23 | Shamrock | MR4DEC::FRISSELLE | | Tue Jul 30 1991 17:01 | 9 |
| Shamrock is about 15-20 minutes north of Stateline.
It's on Route 125, at the corner of South Road in Brentwood,
New Hampshire (or maybe it's Kingston at that point).
From Route 495, you can go north on 125 from either exit 49 or
51B -- I recommend the latter, as it bypasses the Plaistow
business district. Pass Routes 107 and 111. Shamrock will be
on your left.

Single horse harness costs from $200 (for nylon) up - $700 to $800 for
"show" harness depending on what breed/class/show you consider. State
Line (Pelham, N.H.) had a harness on display last time I was there a
few months ago.
Phil Stanton at Wild as the Wind Farm in Upton, MA, has a bigger
selection of draft and driving horse harness. Parade Acres Tack Shop
(603-228-9027) Garvin Falls Road, Concord, N.H. also had a lot of
driving stuff when I was there a year or two ago.

| There are two shop that I know of in Concord. One is locate off route
13 I forgot the name of the road. But if you go out of Concord via 13
you will pass under interstate 89, at the top of the hill trun left and
go about 1 mile or so it's on the right.
The other shop is located off route 3 the old road to
Manchester/Hookset. After you cross the Merrimack river on the Green
steel bridge going out of Concord on route 3, you start up a hill with
numerous car dealers, stores, and small shopping areas. Half way up
the hill on the right is a Dunkin Donut shop, turn right at that point
and go about a mile or less, it's on the right with a sign in the
front.
